CDC changed its method for determining transmission rates to reflect current data on vaccine effectiveness on the current variants of concern with severe disease and hospitalization rates. Based on these new definitions, Loudoun County is now categorized as an area of low level transmission. CDC guidance in areas of low level transmission do not include specific masking recommendation, but does state generally, “Wear a mask based on your personal preference, informed by your personal level of risk.” (see below).
