Ham Radio Event

The local Loudoun County ham radio club has invited us to visit them and participate in the AARL Field Day. Field Day is an annual event held throughout North America to showcase ham radio and is expected to have over 35,000 participants in the U.S. and Canada operating from remote locations. More information about Field Day can be found at http://www.arrl.org/field-day.

The local club will be set up for Field Day at 38668 Sierra Lane, Lovettsville, VA. They will have 5 high frequency (HF) stations, a satellite station, a Get On The Air (GOTA) station, and an ad-hoc digital station. They will be communicating with people all over the world, and our scouts will have the opportunity to get on the air and participate too.

We will meet out in Lovettsville at 2pm. This is an outdoor event, so please wear good footwear, apply sunscreen, and bring a water bottle. I do not believe there will be any refreshments available onsite.

Please send your questions to committee@pack1154.org.

If you have an older boy in Boy Scouts, the club will be hosting a RadioMerit Badge class starting at 1pm. All are welcome to attend.
